Why did AnserraBot visit my site?

AnserraBot is the crawler and browser agent of Anserra, an AI-visibility platform. It visited because someone — the site owner, or an agency acting for them — asked Anserra to check the site. Here is what it does, what it never does, and how to block it.

Identification

Requests carry a user-agent string that contains AnserraBot and a link to this page, for example:

AnserraBot/0.1 (+https://anserra.io/bot)

What it does

  • Fetches publicly accessible pages of the site named in a check: home page, service pages, pricing, contact, booking pages, robots.txt, llms.txt, sitemap. Free scans sample at most 12 pages.
  • In the agent run, opens the site in a real browser and follows links already present on pages, to see whether a booking or checkout page can be reached.
  • Honors robots.txt directives for its user-agent.
  • Limits itself to 1 request per second per domain, so that a check does not create noticeable load.
  • Keeps page content only as long as needed to generate the report.

What it never does

  • It does not fill in form fields, type text, or click submit buttons.
  • It does not create bookings, orders, accounts or payments. Reaching the address of a booking or checkout page ends the check.
  • It does not access pages behind logins, and it does not attempt to bypass CAPTCHAs.
  • It does not collect personal data of visitors or customers of the site.

These rules are part of Anserra's Terms of Service, section 3.

How to block it

Add to your robots.txt:

User-agent: AnserraBot
Disallow: /

The bot re-reads robots.txt on each check, so the rule takes effect immediately. Blocking AnserraBot does not affect how AI engines see your site; it only stops Anserra from checking it.

Removal of a public result page

If a free-scan result page exists for your site and you want it removed, email hello@anserra.io with the link. Requests are handled within 5 business days.

If something went wrong

If you believe a visit caused an unintended action on your site, email the same address with the time and URL. We investigate every report and, if an action was created despite the rules above, help cancel it.
